I had a blast volunteering at the Pictoplasma conference in Berlin. I knew I would get to see lots of cool character designs and hear great talks. I didn’t know that I would be running around the opening party dressed as the Missing Link.
long forgotten sculpture
Visited old friend and house mate Thilo in Stuttgart and found this long forgotten sculpture still hanging around. No idea what he was for or what the gross thing he is holding is, but he is still somewhat poseable/animatable.
softblobs at betahaus
My softblobs are making an appearance as part of a celebration at Betahaus Neukölln on Saturday April 27th. About a dozen artists are showing their work in the basement of Betahaus for one afternoon/evening only. Music, food and dance included.

old masters
My daughter working on her portfolio to apply to art college got me inspired to pick up a brush again too. I decided to do Gesine versions of famous Old Masters paintings, which is a humbling experience to say the least. They are not called old masters for nothing! The really fabulous thing was that I got to see some of the originals in person at the Louvre in Paris and the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.

Blobhouse is at the Atlanta Gift and Home Show this week. I can’t believe how many different critter designs there are by now. And the display even won a prize. Nice job Georgetown! I especially like the cardboard computer and rope headset.

Exploring a new material: fabric. I quite like how these soft blobs are turning out. Just a little worried that they are going to take over the apartment.
big news
This summer me and my family moved to Berlin! I had always wanted to live there and I finally made my dream come true. With all the moving out in Portland and all the moving in in Berlin I have not been making nearly enough art. That’s finally beginning to change and I started with painting these dorks on some IKEA boxes.

cardboard memories
A few more moments from the big Cardboard Castle Fest last month. I'm already feeling nostalgic for summer and all the fun we had. Perhaps there will be another one next year?

In August we hosted a week-long cardboard castle building party in our back yard. It was even more fun than we had imagined. Walls and towers were built. Children ceaselessly tunneled through all of the constructions.
The best thing about it was watching people find and create their very own cardboard dreams. There were cardboard costumes, cardboard instruments, a cardboard sun dial, a cardboard mail box, a cardboard letter press, a cardboard telephone booth that was also a throne (telethrone) and so much more.
milwaukie, oregon is happening
Chris Haberman is single-handedly making Milwaukie, Oregon cool. The Little by Little show follows the format of other shows curated by Chris: different artists create 8"x8" panels that sell for the insanely cheap price of $ 40 straight off the wall. Several different locations in charming downtown Milwaukie. Matt and Morty (above) will be cheerfully attending.
